Who Is Hiring
In My Area?
Since the unemployment rate has reached over 10-percent in
many parts of the country one of the most common questions
asked online is "Who is hiring in my area?" The
most important part of this question is that the unemployment
rate is expected to get worse before it gets better.
Who is hiring in my area, you ask? Even though the U. S.
has lost 500,000 to 650,000 jobs per month since the beginning
of the year, there are still a few sectors hiring and they
are indeed in your area.

When a person asks,
"Who is hiring in my area?" they could be
talking about geographical location or field.

If your field is sales or marketing, healthcare or working
for the government, then you'd probably like to know that
jobs are growing in these areas.
In fact, in April 2009, the government added 177,000 jobs
to the payroll. Small government fans are not thrilled with
this figure, yet for those who are part of the 10-percent
unemployed this offers a glimmer of hope that employment is
just around the corner.
Healthcare has also been a shining beacon of light for the
past few years. And, since the beginning of 2009, the healthcare
industry has added 17,000 jobs per month in cities and towns
across the country.
On CNN a few weeks back I watched one of the commentators
saying that people who are unemployed need to start thinking
outside their box and outside their typical careers right
now. He suggested many consider sales jobs since many are
plentiful right now.
If one takes a look at Monster, Yahoo Hot Jobs or Craigslist
one only has to check out how many sales jobs are available
compared to employment in other fields. For those with an
entrepreneurial spirit there is also the chance for sales
opportunities such as through this website.
With the unemployment rate so high and home foreclosures
bearing down on people like nothing seen in recent history
most people are still wanting to stay local in their job searches.
So, when you ask who is hiring in my area, the answer might
be right in front of your face.
